Crime Graph Comparisons
1.The auto theft in Miami is greater than Chicago because there are subways in Chicago but not in Miami.
Chicago has a greater murder and robbery ratios because there is a lot of gang violence in Chicago. Rival gangs
fight over many things and murder gang leaders and people with high autority in gangs.
2. Miami has very predictable ratios on this graph. The L.A. ratios are in different places and the burglary in L.A. is below the national ratio. From what this graph says it seems that L.A. has more police enforcement that Miami. L.A. still has more crime than the national ratio but has better police than Miami.
3. Portsmouth has very little crime compared to the national ratio except that the theft ratios of Portsmouth and the national one are almost identical. Portsmouth has no murder and very little other crime. Portsmouth is not very populated compared to L.A., Miami, or Chicago and it is easier to enforce the law.
Bottle Making Questions 9-25-09
1. I don't think bottles should be made from crystalline solids because crystalline solids don't get softer, they melt. It would be very hard to make bottles with liquids, and it would be easy to make bottles with soft plastic and glass.
2. The tempature of the mold must be around the same tempature of the bottle so it dosen't harden too quickly that the parison is not able to get out. It might also shatter because of sudden tepature change.
3. The viscosity is high because it is soft but still has a basic shape.
4. Glass is called super cooled glass because it is still a liquid when it hardens, it just moves so slow its impossible to see with the human eye.
ET conclusion
I think Alf wasn't valid to say a car is living, he may have thought that, but it's not living. From an outside view a car may have seemed living, but ET didn't study it closely enough to know it's not living.
Apple: is it living or non-living? 9-14-09
I think the seeds in the apple are living, but they are in a hibernation state, waiting to be planted in the ground so it can absorb the rich nutrients in the fruit when the apple decomposes.
